Ingredients for the Easy Eco-Friendly Autumn Simmer Pot Recipe
- Apple Scraps
- 1/2 lemon sliced
- 3 cinnamon sticks
- 2 star anise seeds
- 2 whole nutmeg
- Water- enough to fill the pot, leaving about 1 inch headspace


Step One
Add your water to the pot of your choice, leaving about 1 inch of headspace to add the rest of the ingredients. You can use a dutch oven, a crock pot, or a regular pot.
Step Two
Add all of your ingredients to the pot in no particular order. You can use as many apple scraps as you would like.


Step Three
Bring the pot to a simmer. Then keep on low for several hours.


Step Four
The recipe can simmer for a long time, just be sure to check on it periodically and add more water as needed if you are using a pot on the stove.

Notes
- I use whole seasonings, but using pre-ground seasonings will also work well.
- This recipe can be done in a pot on the stove or in a crockpot.
- If you are using a pot on the stove, be sure to check the water level periodically to avoid burning the ingredients.
- If you do not have apple scraps, you can also use sliced apples in this recipe.
