Instructions for the Cranberry and Popcorn Garland
Dehydrating Cranberries
If using dehydrated cranberries, they will need to be dehydrated before stringing them. This can take several days in the dehydrator, so plan ahead to dehydrate your cranberries before the day you will want to string them.
It is recommended to dehydrate cranberries in a dehydrator instead of an oven because the process takes several days. In order for the cranberries to stay their beautiful round shape and not shrivel up, they need to be dehydrated at a low temperature, around 140 degrees. I found that this takes anywhere from 4 days to over a week.

You will be able to tell they are dehydrated by opening one up to see if it is completely dry inside. If you can still squish it and it feels wet, it is not ready and will need more time in the dehydrator. Check on it at least once a day or so because some cranberries will dry faster than others, so you can remove the ones that are ready.

Preparing Popcorn
The popcorn will need to be stale. Let the popcorn sit out for a day or two before stringing it as well. I used 2 bags of microwave popcorn with no butter or salt, but you can also use freshly popped stovetop popcorn as long as no butter or salt is added.

String the Garland
Thread the fishing wire through the yarn needle. There is no need to cut the fishing wire ahead of time unless you have a specific desired length. Simply keep the wire attached to the entire spool so that you can move the materials down as you add more.
String the cranberries and popcorn using the yarn needle to poke a hole through the product and onto the fishing wire. Add as many cranberries and pieces of popcorn as desired.
When all of the products are added to the garland, use the yarn needle to thread the end of the wire back through the last cranberry or popcorn piece a second time to secure it in place. Then cut the wire and tie a knot. Do this on both sides of the garland.

Hang and enjoy!
Hang the garland anywhere in your home and enjoy! The garlands look darling on a Christmas tree or a fireplace mantle.

Notes
1. Experiment with different patterns of popcorn and cranberries to make a beautiful garland!
2. If you are using dehydrated cranberries and are wanting to try to preserve them, then make the cranberry garland separate from the popcorn garland. The dehydrated cranberries can be packaged away with the rest of Christmas decorations, but the popcorn will not last as long.
